Create Navy Photo Month Calendar with Round Photo Frame

One month, one picture

A single month page is a kinder project than a twelve-page calendar. Make January for a client gift, make December for a family card, or print one page for the fridge in the month a new baby arrives. You choose the month and year from two drop-down lists, so the dates and weekdays are worked out for you, including leap years.

What the form asks for

• Month and year. Any year you like, past or future.
• Photo. A landscape or square picture works best; it is cropped to a round frame with an orange ring.
• Logo. Optional, shown beside your contact details at the bottom of the page.
• Email, phone and mobile. Handy if the calendar is a business giveaway; leave them empty for a family calendar.

Photo tips

Pick a picture with the subject near the centre, because the round frame removes the corners. A photo at least 1000 pixels wide prints sharply at this size. If you upload a picture with a very bright sky, the navy panel gives it a strong contrast that looks good.

Printing

The page size is 5.5 by 8.5 inches in landscape, the size of a letter sheet folded in half. Print two to a sheet and cut, or print one and use it as a desk card. For a wall version, scale it up to fill a full sheet in the print dialog.

Why a round frame suits so many photos

The round frame crops from the centre, which flatters portraits, pets, products and logos and hides awkward edges. The orange ring ties the picture to the navy panel, so even a casual phone snap looks placed rather than pasted. At half-letter landscape size the sheet suits a desk stand, a small noticeboard or a gift set, and it prints on letter paper if you trim the margin.

Choosing the picture

Pick a photo where the subject sits near the middle, because the frame trims the outer parts. Bright, evenly lit shots read better against the navy than dark ones. Upload a file at least 800 pixels on its shortest side so the circle prints sharply; a small image looks soft at print size. The second upload is your logo, which is optional and sits with the contact lines at the bottom.

Building a full year

To make twelve months, generate January, go back with Make adjustments, switch the month and download the next page, swapping the photo each time if you like. A set looks most coherent when the photos share a theme, such as one garden through the seasons or a child at each age.
