Create Christmas Greeting Card
A folded holiday card made on one US Letter landscape sheet. The front shows a snowy fir tree with presents under a starry sky and your greeting in script; the inside has a verse on the left and your message and signature on the right; the back has a small tree and a line of your choice.
Four colour themes. Print on both sides, fold in half and you have a 5.5 by 8.5 inch card.

A card with your own words in it
Shop-bought cards are fine, but the ones people keep are usually the ones with a few sincere lines of handwriting. This template does the design work, so all that is left for you is to decide what to say. The front is a finished illustration: a large decorated fir tree between two smaller ones, snow on the branches, presents at its foot and a sky full of snowflakes. Over it goes your greeting in a flowing script, such as “Merry Christmas”, with a small line beneath for a family name.
The inside of the card is deliberately calm. The right-hand page carries your message in italics and, below it, your signature in script between two gold rules. The left-hand page holds a short verse or wish with a tiny snowflake and holly motif beneath it. Nothing competes with the words.
Filling in the form
- Use the sample button to see a finished card.
- Front greeting. Up to 26 characters. Shorter greetings print larger; “Happy Holidays” and “Season’s Greetings” both fit well.
- Line under the greeting. Often “from the Murphy family” or “with love from Emma”.
- Message inside. Up to 340 characters. The type size adjusts to the length so a short message looks generous and a long one still fits.
- Signature. Printed in script under the message.
- Left-hand verse and back-cover line. Both are optional.
Printing and folding
The file has two pages. Page 1 is the outside: the back cover on the left half and the front cover on the right. Page 2 is the inside. To print both sides of one sheet, choose double-sided printing and tell the printer to flip on the short edge. Fold the sheet in half with the front cover facing out, and press the fold with the side of a ruler. If your printer only prints one side, print page 1, put the sheet back in the tray with the blank side up and print page 2. Test with a plain sheet of paper first so you see which way your printer turns it.
Use 120 to 200 gsm paper for a card that stands on its own. If your paper is heavy, scoring the fold with a butter knife and a ruler gives a crisp edge. The finished card is 5.5 inches wide and 8.5 inches tall, which fits an envelope of about 6 by 9 inches (a standard “A6 plus” or “C5” envelope is slightly larger and also works).
What to write
- For family: a memory from the year and a hope for the next.
- For friends far away: one specific line, such as “I still laugh about the camping trip”, beats a general good wish.
- For colleagues and clients: a short thank-you and best wishes for the new year, signed by the team.
- For neighbours: a friendly note and a mention of an open invitation for tea.
- For anyone who is alone: a few lines that say you are thinking of them.
Four themes
The classic theme has a deep red sky and a green tree. Winter is a deep blue with an icy tree. Forest and gold is a rich green, and berry has a plum sky. Each has gold or pale accents on the frame and the inside rules.
Sending many cards? Keep track of who is on the list, who you posted to and who sent one back with the Christmas card address list. Planning a get-together as well? The party invitation uses the same four colour themes so that the two match.
Questions people ask
What size is the finished card?
5.5 by 8.5 inches when folded. It is made from a single US Letter sheet in landscape orientation.
Can I print it on A4?
Yes, choose “fit to page”. The card will be slightly smaller but the proportions stay the same.
Why does my inside page appear upside down?
That happens when the printer flips on the long edge. Choose to flip on the short edge in the printer settings, or print the two pages separately.
How many characters fit in the message?
340. The text size adjusts at about 120 and 220 characters so that the message always fits above the lower rule.
Can I use it for a business?
Yes. A short message, your company name as the signature and a simple greeting make a tidy client card. Do not include confidential details.
Is there a blank version?
Yes. Clear the form fields and the card prints with your greeting default, an empty message area and no signature, so that you can write inside by hand.
