Create Monster Mash Halloween Gift Certificate
Make a gift pass that looks like it jumped off a comic-book page. A big title ribbon, a bold outlined card, a grinning green monster, a one-eyed creature, mummies, a ghost and a pumpkin all crowd around your message, in bright colours that kids, teens and party guests will love.
Type the name, the prize, a short message and a silly rule, choose a colour theme, and download a letter-size PDF. Tap Load sample data to see how a finished pass looks.

A gift pass with attitude
Some Halloween designs whisper; this one shouts. The Monster Mash certificate is built like a page from a comic book: thick black outlines, flat bright colours, rays bursting from behind the card and a lineup of friendly monsters leaning in to see what you have written. A green Frankenstein-style character with bolts in his neck guards the left side, a one-eyed creature waves from the right, and a row of small mummies, a ghost and a grinning pumpkin peek over the bottom edge of the page.
It prints on one sheet of US Letter paper in landscape orientation and is meant to be loud, cheerful and easy to read from across the room, which makes it a natural fit for children’s parties, classrooms and family celebrations.
Who is it for?
- Kids and tweens: a reward for finishing a reading challenge, a prize for a costume parade, or a surprise promise tucked into a lunch box.
- Teachers and scout leaders: a certificate for the best story, the kindest classmate or the bravest pumpkin carver.
- Party hosts: a table card, a door prize or a “ticket” to the best seat at the movie.
- Families: chores swapped for the night, a trip to the cinema, a sleepover, a baking session or a big bowl of popcorn.
- Grown-ups with a sense of humour: a gift pass for a friend who loves the season and does not take it too seriously.
Three colour themes
- Slime Party: a purple sunburst background with a lime-green ribbon and green monsters. The most classic of the three, and the one most children pick first.
- Orange Pop: a hot pumpkin-orange background with a grape-purple ribbon and lilac monsters. It looks as if Halloween itself were printed on the page.
- Aqua Fright: a bright teal background with a pink ribbon and lime-coloured monsters, for people who like their spooky season a little less traditional.
The white card stays the same in every theme, so the writing is always dark on white, which is kind to home printers and to young readers.
What goes where
- Heading. Appears on the ribbon at the top in tall comic lettering. Short titles are printed bigger. Leave it empty to print “Monster Mash Gift Pass!”.
- Awarded To. The name of the lucky monster, printed large above a wavy line. Nicknames are welcome: “Captain Cobweb” looks great here.
- Good For. What the pass can be exchanged for, in a sentence or two.
- Value. Optional. Add an amount and a yellow tag appears at the card’s upper right. Leave it blank and the tag is left out.
- Monster Message. A short note, printed inside a rounded speech-style box.
- From and Use By. Who it is from, and the last day it can be used.
- Silly Fine Print. A single line of pretend small print at the bottom, such as “Not valid on days that end in Y.”
Small captions such as “Awarded To”, “Good For”, “From” and “Use By” can be reworded. Click the little pencil next to a label, type your own words, and the printed page will use them — for instance “Champion Of”, “Prize”, “Signed By” or “Expires”.
Ideas for what to give
- A monster-sized ice cream sundae with every topping.
- A sleepover for you and two friends, with pizza and a pillow fort.
- First pick of the Halloween movie, plus a bucket of popcorn.
- A day of being “boss of the playlist” in the car.
- A trip to choose a new book, a puzzle or a board game.
- A homemade pumpkin-carving evening with all the mess you can manage.
- A pass to skip one chore, one bath or one vegetable (parents decide which).
- Ten minutes of tickle-monster time, redeemable once at bedtime.
The best passes are specific and doable. Children remember a promise that is easy to claim, so avoid anything you cannot deliver on the day.
Party and classroom games
- Monster bingo prizes: print a few passes with different rewards and let the winners choose.
- Costume contest: award “Funniest Monster”, “Spookiest Spook” and “Best Group Costume” with a pass each.
- Scavenger hunt: hide the passes around the garden; finding one is the prize.
- Reading reward: in October, hand out a pass for every finished book.
- Thank-you for helpers: give a pass to each child who helps set up or clean up after the party.
Print, cut and share
Use bright white paper for the strongest colours, or light card stock if the pass will be carried around. Choose “landscape” and “fit to page” in the print dialog. The colourful background runs right to the edge, so a home printer may leave a thin border; trim it off with scissors, or leave it as a frame. A sheet protector or laminating pouch keeps the pass clean for the whole season, and a hole punched in the top corner turns it into a party-bag tag. For a table of guests, print a different theme for each person so that everyone finds their own.
Keeping everything kid-friendly
The monsters are silly rather than scary, so the pass is suitable for young children. Check any food allergies before promising a treat, and agree the rules with other adults before handing out a pass that involves them. If a pass promises an outing, remember that a grown-up should go along. Most importantly, honour the pass when it is presented, because a promise on paper is only as good as the person who made it.
Common questions
Can I use it for a birthday or another holiday?
Yes. Change the heading and message and the same monsters make a fine birthday or end-of-term pass.
Do the children need to read it?
No. The pictures set the mood and an adult can read the words aloud.
What if I do not want a value tag?
Leave the value box empty and nothing is printed there.
Can I add my own picture or logo?
This design does not include an upload slot. For branded vouchers, try the Halloween Business Gift Voucher template.
How long can the text be?
Every box has a limit that suits the space on the page, and the lettering shrinks slightly for longer entries so that it stays inside the card.
Is it free?
Yes, creating and downloading the PDF costs nothing.
