Create Multi-Box Shipment Label
A dispatch label for cartons that belong together, with room for box numbering, a shared shipment reference and a clear destination.
When one delivery fills several boxes, the receiving team benefits from seeing how each carton fits into the set. Use a shared shipment reference and a short "Box 1 of 3" style note. Prepare and check each box label so the number on it matches the actual package.

Make the relationship between boxes explicit
Use the same shipment reference on every carton in the set if your records treat them as one dispatch. Put the individual box number and total count into the note, using a consistent phrase such as "BOX 1 OF 3." The destination should remain complete on every label; do not assume the boxes will stay physically together throughout handling. If the cartons go to different recipients or buildings, treat them as separate destinations rather than relying on numbering to explain the difference. A label is most useful when it still makes sense if a single box is read on its own.
Prepare one carton at a time
The form does not automatically increment box numbers. Generate a PDF for the first box, then adjust the note for the next one and check it again. The repeated A4 or Letter layout duplicates the current box label, which is useful for multiple sides of the same carton, not for creating a numbered series in one action. Keep a packing list that records what is in each carton if that matters to receiving. The template does not maintain that list or confirm that every physical box has been dispatched.
A multi-carton check before loading
- Give every carton a complete destination.
- Keep the shared shipment reference consistent.
- Write the correct box number and total in the note.
- Generate the next numbered label separately.
- Keep duplicate copies associated with the same carton.
Choose a shared or carton-specific code deliberately
A shared reference tells your system that boxes belong to one dispatch. If you need a unique code for each carton instead, provide a short carton-specific reference and retain the relationship in your own records. The visible note can still say which box it is. No carrier multi-piece shipment or tracking relationship is created by this template.
The generator creates QR codes and Code 128 barcodes locally. Both use your reference by default; optional custom QR text can instead contain your own short URL or text. A blank reference produces a stable internal ID derived from the submitted label details. These are your identifiers, not official carrier tracking numbers. The tool does not buy postage, reserve a shipment or send the encoded data to a code-generation service.
Use duplicate sheets for the same box
The single label is 4 by 6 inches. Landscape sheet formats repeat identical data, including the current box number, with trimming marks outside the artwork. Print at actual size and scan a sample before attaching copies. If you need labels on more than one side, make sure each copy agrees with the contents and numbering of that carton. After editing the box count, check every saved PDF you plan to print; an old file may still carry the previous total. Keep official carrier labels separate and unobstructed.
Multi-box label answers
Will one click create Box 1, Box 2 and Box 3?
No. The sheet repeats the same label. Change the box-number note and generate each numbered version separately. This avoids implying that the PDF has created or booked a carrier multi-piece shipment.
Should the reference be the same on all boxes?
Use the convention your own records need. A common shipment reference can group cartons, while individual references can identify each box. The generator prints and encodes the value you choose; it does not maintain that relationship for you.
